Rillet, the AI accounting startup that emerged from stealth in 2024, has raised a $100 million Series C at a $1 billion valuation, led by Iconiq. Returning investors Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia also participated, bringing the company's total funding to more than $200 million. The round closed in less than 48 hours, according to CEO Nicolas Kopp, who said on X that the company wasn't planning to raise but saw intense investor interest after a surge in ARR and an alliance with EY.

The company's platform uses AI to help finance teams manage the general ledger, automatically pulling data from sources like Salesforce and Brex to keep books continuously up to date. Rillet says it now serves more than 600 companies and has doubled its annual recurring revenue in the past three months. Iconiq general partner Seth Pierrepont framed the round as validation of a bigger vision: "the general ledger could become more than a system of record and instead the operating system for finance."

The rapid ascent of Rillet — from stealth to unicorn in two years, with a $70M Series B last year and a $25M Series A before that — underscores how hot AI-native applications are among investors. The company is targeting legacy ERP and accounting players like NetSuite, positioning itself as a modern alternative built on AI. While the so-called "SaaSpocalypse" may be overstated, the momentum behind Rillet suggests that AI startups that can demonstrate traction can still command premium valuations and move fast.
