OpenAI Acquires NextSlide to Bolster ChatGPT’s Presentation Capabilities

OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a startup that turns prompts, notes, documents, or research into polished, editable presentations. The deal was confirmed by a note on NextSlide’s website, in which founder Ahmed Beshry announced that the team is now working on ChatGPT. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Beshry, who previously co-founded Caper AI (acquired by Instacart in 2021), said the acquisition actually closed "earlier this year," with the public announcement arriving "a few months late." The NextSlide product was built to make visual communication more accessible, and the team will continue that mission inside OpenAI, focusing on "AI products that help people create, communicate, and turn their ideas into meaningful work."

For developers and power users, this acquisition signals a deeper investment in ChatGPT’s ability to generate structured, visual outputs — moving beyond text and code into slide decks and other presentation formats. This could eventually mean tighter integration with tools like PowerPoint or Google Slides, or a standalone presentation feature within ChatGPT.
